Makayla's Reflections Entry: A Hero to Never Be Forgotten

       Heroes are people who always put themselves aside for others, heroes also work hard for things they want in their lives. A hero chooses to serve others and a hero is always comforting you on a bad day. Heroes make you feel better when you need it. Heroes are always kind and loving toward others. Heroes are the kind of people who stand up for you and who help you when you drop all your papers.

        There are many heroes in are world today, big and small. A firefighter could be your hero, who saved your life when your house was burning down. A policeman could be a hero, who helped get a dangerous criminal. Your own parents could be your heroes, because they helped you study for a quiz. Another hero could be your grandparents, who saved you when a raft was sinking. Your siblings could be your heroes, because you did not have a good day and they helped make you feel better and smile.

            A hero in my life is my Aunt Christie Perkins, who fought through breast cancer for five years with her family at her side. My aunt was a very strong and brave person. One thing I have always remembered about her is that she would always put a smile on her face even if she did not feel good, so that others would feel better. One day when she had a church youth hangout at Dairy Queen, she was close to the end of life, and she threw up. She wanted the young women to think she was feeling okay to do this and went inside Dairy Queen and smiled and put on her happy face. My aunt always put her needs from breast cancer aside for others. When she did not feel that good and it hurt to move, she still let people visit her. Also, she would serve others like her family, plus make dinner and tidy up. My aunt always comforted her family, even when she was going to pass away soon. My aunt also made the best out of her situation. When she could not eat much, and she was turning yellow and getting even skinnier, she still ate Cheerios and fruit even if it got old. She was also very talented at making friends. My aunt was a great role model to everyone she knew, always choosing the right. She loved everyone and she did not judge.

               Even if my aunt Christie is no longer alive with us, she will always be a hero to me. She passed away in April at age 39 of breast cancer. I will always remember her example to me and all her good actions. Even if I will never see her happy smiling face again, I will always love her and think of her as a hero.

                We can all learn from my aunt Christie to keep our eyes open for ways we can improve. We should also learn from her to be the best person we can be even when it is difficult. We should always find ways to serve others. My aunt was a wonderful person who taught us a vital lesson we need to remember, “Try your best in life, that is all that really matters”.

A Hero to Never Be Forgotten- Artistic Statement

I wrote this paper about my Aunt Christie. She is one of my greatest heroes because she helped others first even though she was dying from breast cancer.  My aunt was also a hero to me because she was a good example.  She always chose to put a smile on her face even when she felt terrible. A hero is someone who inspires you and lifts you up.  Aunt Christie is that person to me, and this is why she is my hero.
