Fish Lake 2012

We kicked August off by camping at Fish Lake for a week.  We went with Scott's family which includes his newly returned parents from their mission, his brother & wife plus 3 kids and his sister & husband plus 4 kids.  It was great going fishing and being out in nature.  We played plently of games, explored, and relaxed.  Good times were had by all.

Each family was in charge of making dinner for everyone for one night.  We planned ours out and decided to do an old fashioned American Diner theme.  We fried up some french fries and chicken strips, made sure to have plenty of dipping sauces, and even included the little red and white paper baskets with liners and sauce cups for serving.  To finish it off we had banana splits with all the works. Then we let the kids hit open an ice cream shaped pinata and collect some goodies.

Nice hat!
Scott's sister Christie brought up some horny toad lizards to keep the kids entertained.  The female ended up giving birth to several baby lizards while we were up there. The kids especially enjoyed holding and playing with the lizards.

We went to Capitol Reef for a day and explored around.  One hike we went on had a wall where pioneers recorded when they passed by on the trail.  We also went down 59 miles of dirt roads where 4 wheeling was required.  It had rained the day before, so there were several washed out roads to cross. To make it back out of the trail we had to drive through a large river! (Nerve-racking !!)

Called Glass Mountain, should be called Glass Mound :)

On the long dirt trail before the river, we drove over a log and it became lodged under our car. Luckily our cool brother-in-law Scott was there to help us get it out!

And what is Fish Lake without of course, fishing?  We caught many of those, so many that we ended up throwing back several.  We kept enough for 3 meals and then tossed back the rest.

They got up early to fish extra

I'm going to revert back to Capitol Reef. That place was breath-taking!

We played games for much of the time, like laser tag and cards.

Fish Lake was time well spent with family!
