Lincoln is 7 !

Sweet little Lincoln turned 7 on March 5th.  Something about Lincoln is that he is very quiet at school.  He only talks to a few chosen friends.  At home he sometimes talks too much, but only if he's in the mood to socialize.  Sometimes if he's in his own little world, he ignores you.  Lincoln is very inquisitive and with his mechanical mind, wants to know how things work and why they work the way they do.  When we go to the dollar store, he rarely picks out a toy or a treat.  Instead, he mostly buys flashlights or key locks, in order to take them apart and see how they work.  He also likes to buy wooden popsicle sticks to build things and bubble machines.  Lincoln is obsessed with technology and especially a game called Roblox.  He would play all day if we let him.  He still has issues with being toilet trained.  His pediatrician assured me that he still falls within the 'normal' category.  As frustrating as this is, of course we still love our Lincoln boy.  He adds a lot of joy to our family.  

Lincoln wanted a birthday party.  I asked him who we should invite and he insisted on including his whole 1st grade class.  (There are only 15 kids total).  So we filled out invitations and I wasn't really expecting more than half to show up since we didn't know all of them closely.

10 kids ended up coming which was a great turnout!  They played video games and VR and watched some Disney Pixar short cartoons.  They had a good times and Lincoln glowed with all of his attention.  Friends that came were Sarah, Anne, Hazel, Emma, Robert, Mason, Enzo, Noah, Evan, and Cohen. 

On his actual birthday, he chose to go to Get Air, a trampoline park.  They played and played for a few hours.  Then he wanted to come home and have macaroni and cheese.  What a cutie!  He is a keeper.

7 years old now!  He had a good birthday and handed out king sized Hershey cookies and cream bars to his class at school. 

February 2018

The first week of the month was spent in Southern California!

Scott had his 38th birthday.  He chose to celebrate at Texas Roadhouse and they had him sit on a saddle while they cheered for him. Seeing him embarrasingly squirm was awesome!  Then he came home and opened gifts.

We had a good Valentine's Day complete with class parties, cookies, and fondue.

Makayla got an adorable valentine from Jeffery, a boy in her class. "Happy Valentine's Day Makayla! Makayla, you are the light in darkness. You always bring brightness anywhere you go. You are the light in my life.  Makayla, nice girl, you are beautiful, a friend to all, kind to people, good person, Makayla.  Love, Jeffery  Will you be my Valentine?  (circle one) yes or no  

We got dumped on by several inches of snow.

Fat Gus gave us joy.

The kids helped Scott sort out scouting for food flyers.

We participated in the Safe Kids Fair.

And wouldn't you know it? Our ceiling above the back door started leaking again. Like a lot!  Grrrrrrr. Old house problems.  Our house was built in 1961, so sometimes things break or leak.  The icicles found their way inside.  We eventually pulled the carpet up and brought some fans in and dried it out.

Makayla is 11 !

Makayla is a beautiful soul inside and out.  She is really the most caring person in our family.  She wants to help others be happy.  She will do anything to brighten someone's day.  She often gives her teacher gifts of moving solar toys because she knows they make her teacher happy.  When in Vegas, she bought 3 for Mrs. Neilson.  She often will give her friends, brothers, and cousins - cards, candy, or toys.  She has a good head on her shoulders.  She knows how to choose the right and it comes easy for her.  Even when a bratty girl in her class treated her wrong, she offered her forgiveness and friendship.  We can all learn a lot from our Makayla. What a great oldest child we have to lead her younger brothers.

She wanted a birthday party, so we decided to have her friends come play video games here and they did some virtual reality and sardines too.  They made ice cream sundaes. They seemed to have a good time. Friends that came were Surie, Cassie, Jeffery, Alex, Tayton, Claire, Marley, Luci, and Abby.

On Makayla's actual birthday, she gave out cotton candy tubs to her class.  She opted to see "Early Man" the new Wallace and Gromit movie. And we went out to Outback Steakhouse after.

She got spoiled.  Lots of arts and crafts stuff.  Her favorite gift was a 6 pack of NumNoms light up toys.  She also liked her slime.  She is on a slime kick.

These notes are from kids in her class.  I am telling you, she is a wonderful girl.  Everyone loves Makayla!
