Reflections 2019

Reflections was my big project this year at the elementary school.  It seemed to go smoother than last year because of past experience.  Thank goodness for a supportive husband, Scott.

The theme was "Look Within." Makayla turned in 4 things and ended up winning two 1st places (Award of Excellence) and two 2nd places (Award of Merit). Her middle school opts to reward with gift card instead of medals, so Makayla raked in $30 to Target!

Sterling turned in a photo called "6 Marbles". Lincoln created "The Truck Made out of Soda" in the 3D category.

Sterling got and Award of Merit and Lincoln received an Award of Excellence.  They both moved on to the next level.

The council level was as far as the boys went.

Makayla ended up going to District Level and her picture of the mountain went to State.  We are so proud of our kids and how they harnessed creativity into their projects.

Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland!

We were thrilled to get out of winter and visit warmer California.  We headed out November 1st through the 9th.

Day 1
We took an afternoon flight and got to California.  Then we rented a car and headed to Six Flags. It was pretty crowded, but we got on a new to us ride, 'Apocalypse'.

Day 2
Six Flags was even more crowded and we waited for an hour just to get in the park.  We played a few games, went on a few rides, then agreed to leave and head to Knott's Berry Farm (1.5 hr drive).

We really enjoyed the Halloween haunted houses at Knott's Berry Farm. What a blast!

 Day 3
We played all day at Knott's Berry Farm and really enjoyed the rides.

One of the best rides was 'Ghostrider' which wound across main roads and was a huge thrill ride. We waited so long for this ride (45 mins.), but it was worth it.  Then we walked over to the Knott's Berry Farm restaurant and got their famous chicken dinner. We had way too much food, but it was a great experience.

 Day 4
Headed to Disneyland! One fun aspect of the trip was pin trading. We bought pins off of Ebay then had a bunch of pins to trade with workers.  We had a good time tracking down different pins and 'upgrading them' and collecting them.  Makayla went for musical instrument pins and Lincoln went for locks.  Sterling got Mickey Mouse head pins with different outfits.

Hands down, everyone's favorite ride was 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.  Plus we got to see a 'Frozen 2' play.

We enjoyed the new Incredicoaster and then got some treats. By the end of the night, we were all pretty wiped out.

Day 5
Played on the Roger Rabbit ride, ate at the 'Blue Bayou' restaurant by the Pirates ride, then rode Splash Mountain.

Got some yummy treats and watched a show.

Day 6

Enjoyed a great day including the new Incredibles ride, the Cars ride, the train where Sterling found a giant leaf, and the water show.

Day 7
Had a marvelous day playing.  Ate dinner in the new Star Wars land.

Day 8
Played some more!  The kids especially liked running around in the bear playground.

Lincoln was so tired he literally slept while eating his last meal at Disneyland.

 Day 9
We packed up and boarded our plane home.  What a magical trip!
