June 2012

We started June off with a camping trip to Coalville, Utah. It's past Park City probably another half hour.  We found the old Lincoln Highway and enjoyed reading some pioneer stories and looking at trains.  We even smashed some coins on the railroad! We went swimming and played a lot. Probably the highlight of our trip was taking our boat fishing on Echo Reservoir.  No fish, but a fun boat ride. We wanted to stop at an annual anique sale on the way home, but Makayla had a little heatstroke, so we needed to get home.

Train smashed coins.

Ready for swimming.

My brother Ben came home from his Seattle, Washington mission!!   We went to the airport to greet him and followed him to his release. The stake president forgot about it and had to drive an hour to get there, fun, fun! (not). Ben looks great and was a honorable missionary. I really loved his homecoming talk, you can just tell what a spiritual giant he is.

Balloons for Ben!

Welcome home Ben!

My sister Maisy is in town from Mississippi and it is great having her here for a few weeks. Our kids love their cousins and I like visiting with them.

We celebrated Sterling's 3rd birthday by showering him with his favorite toys: cars and trucks. He is definitely 100% boy, how into them he is. He always has taken 2 cars to bed every night and at least 2 cars with him everywhere he goes, even in the car, and even to church.  He got to choose lunch, so we ate McDonalds so they could play on the slides and got his face painted with Batman.  In the evening, we went up to Silver Lake and had a picnic and had a nice nature walk around the lake.

We are working on potty training Sterling, some days have no accidents, some have too many.  I hope that we can get a handle on it soon enough as it would be awesome to only have 1 kid in diapers/pull-ups.

We took more trips to the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the local Spashpark.  They were feeding the otters at the Aquarium and we loved watching them run everywhere to find the hidden dead fish. The new Rocky Shores exhibit at the Zoo was cool too.

Scott and I celebrated out 10 year anniversary June 29th. I really can't believe it's been that long! 3 kids later, yeah it has.  We were hoping to do something really cool, like a mini-trip somewhere. We didn't plan it well enough, so when my mom offered to watch the kids for a night, and we took her up on it.  We did a staycation mega-date here. We went to Lagoon for 6 hours on Wednesday the 27th. We were able to catch the rollercoasters, which was awesome! We love thrill rides, but it's hard to do those with little kids. We then went to Fat Cat's Bowling and bowled 3 games each, Scott winning all of them :) We rented Man on a Ledge and got some ice cream.  The next day we went to IHop for breakfast and then mini golfing ( I won this one) at Hollywood Connections, then to a movie, The Hunger Games.  Then it was off to Nickelmania, an arcade.  We sure played hard and it was so great to have that much date time.  Thanks to my parents. Bring on the next 10 years!

May 2012

In May Makayla graduated preschool.  They did a very cute show over at Wheeler Farm and we got a kick out of what a great little dancer Makayla is. That girl can shake her hips! I might be biased, but she was the best dancer there as far as I could tell.

Grandma came to the big event.

We will miss Miss Shirley, who retired.

We visited the new splashpad and park in our neighborhood and the kids loved it!

We had Grandma Paxton and Aunt Lisa over for a 3D movie.

We went miniature golfing at Fat Cats Pizza Place.

For Mother's day, I got a new chair as the other chair was completely broken and unsafe.

We also got to talk to my brother Ben, who is on a mission on Mother's Day. He comes home June 11th!

We went to a Hebdon family party with some fun games.

We went on a trip to Southern Utah and Las Vegas. We helped Scott's brother Bryan and his family move houses. Boy, they sure got an upgrade, from like 2000 square feet to 6700, just a beautiful house! Not to mention the bonus 2100 square foot bonus house on their property. We are happy for them!

We went on to Circus Circus for 4 days. It actually was pretty fun! We stayed in the newer part, so it was much better than the old one 8 years ago.  Our kids thoroughly enjoyed playing carnival games and winning stuffed animals. That was probably their favorite thing besides swimming.

The view out our hotel room.

Some other things we did there are:

Look at the aquarium at the Silverton,

The black and white fish was the coolest.

Go to Madame Tsusad's Wax Museum,

Scott posing with J-Lo

Kristin with Matthew McConaughey

Look at the pretty Bellagio flowers,

The bees and ladybugs are made of flowers.

Go to M & M World,

Enjoy some sodas from around the world at the Coke Factory,

At least 5 different people asked us if our boys were twins. I thought that was funny because they are nearly 2 years apart. But when I saw them sleeping side by side, I understood why people thought that.

You know, it really was a good little getaway!  With temperatures in the 100s, we were ready to come home though. Nothing is like Home Sweet Home.
