Fish Lake 2017

Day 1

We headed to Fish Lake on June 23rd with the Paxton side of the family.

We put the boat in the water and parked it at our rented dock.

We are so glad Marv joined us.  He is pretty sick. We gave him this shirt when he arrived.

We celebrated Sterling's 8th birthday.  

 Cousins played.

And Lincoln was tired!

Day 2

Makayla made slime.

We checked out the lodge.

Fished with cousins!

Everyone caught some!

Cooked a yummy dinner for all.

Ate some ice cream sandwiches.

Hung out with Zoey, Bryan and Candi's dog.

And had a colorful campfire.

Day 3

Cleaned out the trailer and moved it to a better camping spot.

Grabbed a few photos.

Painted some crafts.

Watched 'Jumanji'.

Took some sibling photos.  Christie has stage 4 breast cancer, and we don't know how long she'll be with us.  She is the sweetest sister-in-law I could ever ask for.

Went on a little bike ride.

What a beautiful way to connect with nature!

Day 4

Spent the morning riding in the boat.

 And fished like crazy!

The kids' favorite thing was racing in the boat.

And fish we did! We caught 73 perch fish and about 3 rainbow trout.  We only kept 8 fish total and threw the rest back.

We fried that fish right up and ate it.  A good trick we learned is to coat the fish in raw egg mixed with corn meal on the outside. Pretty good tasting recipe! It's a keeper.

Sterling blasted off his rocket.

Cousins made a hammock city.

Grandma and Makayla made all the girls cute tote bags and surprised us!

Then went on a super long bike ride while grandma watched Lincoln.

What a scenic place!

Ended the night with some yummy smores.

Day 5

Brothers and Hudson played.

Explored an old shack.

And found a mama mouse and her babies.

Played The Farming Game.

And some laser gun games.

Went fishing again! And released all we caught.

A seagull ate one of the fish that swallowed the hook too deep.

Sterling and I rode bikes to a little makeshift hut.

Day 6

 Went to Capitol Reef!

The best part was opening the sunroof and slowly taking it all in.  This is the only place we let the kids stand up and do this while driving.  Okay, we do it too. :)

Best cousins.

Times two.

Explored the little creek.

Hung out in the park and played frisbee and watched a deer.

Checked out some petroglyphs.

All of us lined up.

Ate some yummy dinner at Slackers.

 And checked out a teepee on our way home.

Day 7

Waited for some cows to cross.

Found a peaceful creek.

We fished with no luck, but enjoyed the peaceful setting.

And someone built a boat.

Hit open a pinata full of Tootsie Roll candies.

Played a pirate cup game.

And brave Makayla slept in the hammock city.

Day 8

Found a secret hideout.

Grabbed some photos before the Perkins left.  Scott's family.

With in-laws.

All 10 cousins.

A bonus one of the Perkins.

Took the boat for one last spin before loading it on the trailer.

And played airplanes.

Day 9

Apparently, I did not take photos this day.  We traveled home.  It was a long drive because we went extra slow.  Ever since getting our new car, the hitch hasn't worked well with the new trailer.  Together, the trailer fish-tails too much and makes the drive scary for us all.  I was behind Scott who pulled the trailer.  I pulled the boat.  Through prayer and being blessed, we were able to make it home safely.  All in all, the trip was great!  (Minus the towing part).  The Paxtons are great company.  We pray that Marv can find answers soon, so that he can be treated and enjoy life more.  We pray for Christie's comfort, as she just found out that she will be going through chemotherapy again and will likely lose her hair again, and lose all sense of taste and water will taste like metal.  Poor girl! We love her and pray for her to find comfort and peace through her cancer trial.
