New Cabin

Grandpa Marv and Grandma Vickie bought a cabin last October and have been updating it.  There is no winter access up by Duck Creek Village, so after the snow melted, they were thrilled to finish up a few things.  We headed down Memorial Day weekend.

We ate dinner at the One Man Band Diner on the way.

And checked out an old building behind the restaurant.

We made it to the cabin.  Snow was mostly melted. (This picture was from 2 months before)

The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms.  This is the view from the kids loft upstairs.

We explored outside.

And found some robin's eggs which we quietly watched.

One fun thing was the new Polaris Grandma and Grandpa bought to explore with.  The machine can hold 6 people which means families can all go out together.

Scott and Mason had lots of fun tipping over dead trees.

I was amused too.

This is a horny toad.  There are plenty of these around the cabin.

Capturing these critters was a highlight for the kids and Scott.

We visited Strawberry Point, only a short distance from the cabin.  Quite the hidden gem! You would never know this is hiding around the corner.

The boys played some computer games.

And the girls cooked.  Maddie licked the homemade Oreo mint ice cream.  And we learned a new way to slice watermelon from Christie.

We ate some yummy meals.

We explored other views of Strawberry Point.  So beautiful!

Hello Scott!  He waved back from the next cliff.

Other ventures included the old castle.

And the blown up building.

Lincoln and Hudson were best buddies.

We put together this puzzle.

And played Risk!  Kasen and Barrek dueled at the end.

Of course, we made smores.

And this guy went around snapping candid photos of everyone.

We had a good weekend getaway.  Family time is the best!
