Fish Lake

This year the Paxton's decided to go camping at Fish Lake.  We arrived on a Sunday evening and spent a week.  Lots of fun was had with all 18 people.  There were also several rainstorms.  Good thing for trailers and awnings to keep us dry.

Grandma brought quite a few crafts for the kids to do.  The first one was painting birdhouses.  They also tole painted some animals. 

Everyone was given a t-shirt to decorate.  I liked Scott's especially, "This is ME, the Mighty Perch Slayer." (Perch is Scott's favorite type of fishing.)

Each family took a night for dinner and prepared for everyone.  This dessert was so yummy on Bryan and Candi's night. You take a glazed donut and slice it open and spray whipped cream and spread a raspberry sauce in it.

Kasen was officially Lincoln's best friend at camp.  He would refer to him as "my friend." "Where's my friend?" "I want to give this to my friend." It was pretty cute seeing how much Lincoln looked up to him, regardless of their 7 year difference.

Sterling was content to play with his remote control car any chance he got.

Makayla loved hanging out with Camron, her best buddy.

We also brought crafts to do. Here they made some caterpillars.

The best project we brought for them to do was a fossil dig.  Scott and I prepared these a few days before and  there were 3 layers for the kids to dig through.  There were coins from around the world, rocks, and each one had a dinosaur too.  So much fun since the cousins weren't expecting anything!

And what is Fish Lake known for?  Fishing! We rented a pontoon boat for 2 of the days to go fishing and boy did we ever! We ended up catching 107 perch fish and 5 trout on our boat.  We only kept 2 total fish and fried them up so the kids could taste it, and they loved the fish. Guess we should have kept more!

Boat time was fun and relaxing, minus getting rained out both days.

Christie got a little nap in one morning.  We had fun dancing to the "Party in the USA" song when our boat needed some entertainment.

We celebrated my birthday up there.  It was fun being surrounded by people who love me.

Of course there were marshmallows to be toasted.

This random red hedgehog fly was hanging out by the river we fished in.  I thought they were bees but looked them up online.

On Wednesday we went in to Capitol Reef.  The land is such a hidden gem. We explored around.

Slackers Burger Joint hit the spot with yummy food and ice cream.

On Friday, we went exploring at an old shed we found. We walked right in it and were awed by all of the antiques left sitting there collecting dust including old machines and a soda fountain.

We rescued a lizard that was stuck in the deep sink of the soda founatin.

Then we hiked around Torrey (right outside of Capitol Reef) and looked for ripple rocks.

We found a random stone structure that seemed pretty old.

Had to check out the teepee.

Grandma and Grandpa brought a pinata that the kids happily smacked open.

This was my fish from the river. Threw the little guy back.  Of course Makayla was smelling the flowers.

Lincoln entertained himself by dumping buckets of dirt in his hair and was in need of a bath.  Look at the gross water after I washed his hair twice.

Madison, Makayla, and Sterling make a mini movie with the dinosaurs and purple sand. 

Fish Lake area is awesome! We will keep coming back.
