July started out with some complications. We had an outrageous water bill and the water company noticed too. We had some plumbers come out, and sure enough, as bad luck would have it, we had a definite leak in the water main. This really is a homeowner's nightmare! The city will only take responsibility if it's on the city line, not a residential line. So we were out 3K to fix it. Not the way I would choose to spend that kind of money! After getting bids from different plumbers, we chose Rooter Wizard.
They arrived and dug a 4 foot deep trench down the yard by hand.
They put the soil on tarps. Ingenious!
The line runs 150 feet away from the street connection.
This was an all day project. And to think in 90 degree weather!
The new pipe went in and was connected to the water main.
Then they put the soil and rocks back down.
And patted it down with water and shovels.
And put everything back in to proper place.
Our yard the same day, 8 hours later. Hopefully the new water main connection will last another 50 years. Happy 50th anniversary house! (Built in 1964)
