On Monday we found a real gem of a museum in Fairview.
We became quick friends with Don, the museum curator. He was such a great tour-guide and his knowledge of everything really was fascinating.
Don smartly fixed this broken phonograph and let us listen to some old speeches.
He showed us this sculpture. Turns out this creation is really shrapnel from several war bombs fashioned together into a bush.
Don even opened up the case and let our kids look through the antique periscope.
We found art made by Jeronimo Lozano, my parents' good friend.
This tree grew right in the middle of a tossed out sewing machine.
One wing was full of large church statues.
Lincoln was happy with the phone buttons.
Even outside had a pretty garden area.
Don ended up gifting Grandpa Marv an old milk bottle and Scott a rock fossil with several seashells. The icing on the cake was when Don met us after he locked the museum. He showed us a perfect spot to fossil hunt up the canyon. And he showed us where a cabin once stood that was torn down because of a fire.
There were several treasures found there.
Grandma and Makayla took it upon themselves to clean them with CLR and sponges.
The finished treasures after sitting for all week.
Tuesday started with a morning dip in the pool.
Then we explored the Manti area.
We were lucky enough to find a waterfall!
And what a beautiful waterfall!! I can't believe they don't have signs or any advertising for it in town.
Wednesday we hung out at camp.
We found some carved wooden animals.
We raced boats down the little river.
And then went into town and found a quaint yummy pizza joint.
Thursday the cousins came!
We were on the same pink wavelength.
Hooray for cousins!
We challenged them to a boat race.
Grandma Vickie made a very delicious dutch oven red velvet cake.
And after dinner we hung out by the campfire.
Friday we explored some more.
I noticed that Sterling lost his first tooth!!! He must have swallowed it because he didn't even know it was gone. Looks like his permanent tooth came up and pushed the baby one out. Silly Sterling, not even knowing his tooth was out.
Splashed in the pool. Scott gave these two swimming advice.
Saturday we got some ice cream.
And enjoyed our last campfire.
What a wonderful getaway!
