CANCUN!

Day 1

We were so excited to be able to go on our Cancun trip finally!  It was bumped for a year while the world closed down.   1st stop was to change planes in SLC.  We were lucky enough to run into Maisy who was coming to Utah for a bit.

After we landed in Cancun, we rented a car and were pulled over within the hour.  There are corrupt cops there.  We did absolutely nothing wrong! They claimed we turned right illegally. We saw what happened.  They drove past us and saw that we were American and then pulled us over immediately.  They demanded Scott's drivers license and told us to pick it up the next day at the police station. We opted to take care of it there, $80 later. So corrupt and wrong!!

Finally, we got to check into our room.  And we explored the area.

We saw some ruins and some trash pandas trying to get some food.

Day 2
Ate some yummy food and played some pool and ping pong.

We tried some tasty Italian food and walked around.  Sterling was playing tag with Makayla and sliced his toe at our room.  Good thing Scott is smart and thought to pack some superglue.  It saved the day! We spent most of the day at Xelha- a water amusement park.

Pics from Xelha
We snorkeled and swam most of the day.

Day 3
We took a long boat ride to go snorkeling.

Tried the fancy restaurant and then explored the area.

Day 4
Hung out at Xenses park for most of the day. Xenses is a park where you explore your different senses.

Then explored an outdoor mall and enjoyed some ice cream.

We were fascinated by these sweet old blind people that played music as they walked and worked for donations.

Walked around, played ping pong, and found some animals to round out the day.

Pics from Xenses (my personal favorite park)
The best part about Xenses was the mud river. It was a thick texture and something new.  This place had great photo opportunities.

Day 5
We went to Xplor park, which was pretty fun.   Lots of zip lines and snorkeling in rivers.  It was a busy day with lots of walking.

Caught the fire show at the resort.

Pics from Xplor
This park had a little of everything. From zip lines, to water slides, to snorkeling, to four wheeling- everyone had a good time.

Day 6
Started the day at the fancy restaurant.  Lincoln really enjoyed his crepes.  My salmon bagel was pretty good too.

Looked around Chichen Itza.  The day was so hot! But we were happy to see some ruins.

Then we quickly went to a graveyard.  There was a graveside going on, so we didn't want to interrupt.  Plus, it was a sketchy neighborhood.

This dinner was probably our favorite.  The master chef sliced and diced and cooked the food in front of us Teppanyaki style.  It was fun!

Day 7
Today was Xcaret day.  Animals to see through walking and snorkeling the grounds.

The day was hot but good.  Sterling loved diving for treasures in the river.  He found several pairs of glasses.  Makayla found some coins.

We bought tickets for a fun cultural show and dinner.  We were entertained and had some interesting food.  The flower pot soil was dessert, like a pudding.

Xcaret Pics
We hiked around and looked at several animals. Then we swam through a river cave.

Day 8

This day started by getting our covid tests to make sure we were healthy to go home. Then we hung out at the beach and resort.  We played in the sand, swam in a cenote, and ate some yummy food.

Day 9
We went on a decent bike ride to some ruins and then went shopping to the outdoor mall.

Day 10
All good things must come to an end. We boarded the first plane to Mexico City.

We had to switch planes again in SLC before coming home. Let me tell you, it was stressful to walk the mile to catch the connecting flight.  We were lucky that they took pity on us and held the plane for us.  Literally, we were the last people to board.  All in all, Cancun was amazing!  And spending time with family was priceless.
